About this Simulation

This interactive simulation models the dynamics of a two-block system where a lower block is pushed horizontally via a spring. Learners adjust force, friction coefficients, and block properties to investigate whether the upper block will slip or drop when the lower block accelerates. The simulation visualises contact forces and motion in real-time.

Learning objectives: Understand how friction prevents relative motion between surfaces | Predict the conditions under which static friction is exceeded and slipping occurs | Analyse the relationship between applied force, normal force, and frictional force in coupled systems
