About this Simulation

This interactive model visualises single slit diffraction and the superposition of waves. Learners can adjust slit width, wavelength, and observation parameters to observe how waves bend around obstacles and create characteristic diffraction patterns with central maxima and secondary minima.

Learning objectives: Understand diffraction as a wave phenomenon and how it occurs when waves pass through narrow openings | Explore the relationship between slit width, wavelength, and diffraction pattern intensity | Apply the principle of superposition to explain wave interference patterns in optical systems
