About this Simulation

This simulation models one-dimensional waves created by particles connected via springs. Learners can observe how waves propagate through a medium, how individual particles oscillate as waves pass, and how varying parameters affect wave behaviour. The visualization shows the real-time motion of each particle and the resulting wave pattern formation.

Learning objectives: Understand how waves propagate through elastic media | Observe the relationship between particle oscillation and wave motion | Investigate how spring stiffness and particle mass affect wave properties
