About this Simulation

This simulation models a permanent magnet falling through a non-magnetic copper tube. Observe how eddy currents induced in the copper create a magnetic braking effect that slows the magnet's descent. Adjust gravity, initial conditions, and view parameters to investigate the relationship between magnetic force, electromagnetic induction, and motion dynamics.

Learning objectives: Understand electromagnetic induction and eddy current generation in conductors | Explore how Lenz's law explains magnetic damping and energy dissipation | Analyze the equilibrium between gravitational and magnetic forces on falling magnets
