Student Created Questions (SCQ) is actually not new. n the speech, Prof Yu mentioned that students had no experience in creating questions. I fully concurred with that I try asking my students to create word problems but I realize that it is more difficult for them. They rather answer the questions. Guess we need to really teach them how to create problems. Here are some advantages of SCQ: Learner reflection and self-regulation and knowledge construction

Open Source is my the other pet topic (well, it seems that everything is my pet topic. lol). Back in school, I also find that if I can customize my own resources , it will be great. That is why I am always looking out for open tools to create my quizzes. And , this year, I have found Open Source Physics Simulation I can now customize my physics simulations ! Real cool! And no more complaining that the physic simulation is too “much” (with lots of details) .
Today, Loo Kang and I had a Interactive Event: Designing Open Source Computer Models for Physics by Inquiry using Easy Java Simulation. Trying to spread EJS spirit to more countries. Do visit Loo Kang Blog Post for more details.
I really feel very “academish” these days. Hearing all those super “ATAS” terms from the academic scholars. I can never be like them as I am too “grassroot”. But sometimes, the “grassroot” in me also want to feel “ATAS” and must speak in ahem scholarly manner.
Here is how you can sound “academish”:
(1) Open Learning Model : the representation of a learner’s knowledge and skills, and sometimes their misconceptions.
John, what is your open learning model? (Meaning, what is that you do not know?)
(2) Multimodal texts : images, sound, movement and text on image
Dear class, what do you understand from this multimodal texts? (Meaning, do you understand the video?)
(3) Collaborative Dialogue (CD): learners co-construct language or knowledge about language to solve complex linguistic problems
Let’s have a collaborative dialogue today on this story. (Let’s discuss the story)

The primary reason for them using FB is that they are popular among students. We can even extend to Social Media and this what SM can offers us.
(1) Provide faster access speed in both synchronous and asynchronous communication methods
(2) Get more information in social networks platform than when they search by themselves.
(3) Support interaction and collaboration, active participation and critical thinking
Why are we waiting for? Let’s try to think hard and see how we can use SM in our classroom teaching.

In Computer supported personalized learning (CSPL), the learning is optimized for the learners based on their different learning profile and preference. It seems that you can personalize lots of things from this Computer-Supported Personalized Learning (W14) workshop I have attended.
From what I have heard, you can personalize content (from the students’ online behaviour), response (from students’ gestures), opponent (from your game’ progress), competition mode (self vs group competition).
