About this Simulation

This simulation models the motion of a driven double pendulum system, where an external driving force creates complex oscillatory behaviour. Learners can adjust mass, length, and driving parameters to observe how coupled pendulums respond to periodic forcing and explore the transition from regular motion to chaotic dynamics.

Learning objectives: Understand coupled oscillatory systems and how external driving forces affect pendulum motion | Investigate nonlinear dynamics and the conditions that lead to chaotic behaviour | Analyse the relationship between initial conditions, system parameters, and long-term motion patterns
