About this Simulation

This simulation models a Wien (E × B) filter, where crossed electric and magnetic fields interact to select particles by velocity. Learners adjust electric field components (Ex, Ey, Ez), magnetic field components (Bx, By), particle charge (q), and kinetic energy (KE_eV) to observe how particles behave under competing Lorentz forces and discover the conditions for particle transmission.

Learning objectives: Understand how perpendicular electric and magnetic fields create velocity-dependent forces | Determine the relationship between field strengths and particle trajectory selection | Apply the Lorentz force equation to predict particle motion through a Wien filter
