About this Simulation

This simulation models a velocity selector—a device that uses perpendicular electric and magnetic fields to filter charged particles by velocity. Learners can adjust initial velocities, observe how particles with different speeds respond, and visualize the balance between electric and magnetic forces in real time.

Learning objectives: Understand how electric and magnetic forces combine to select specific particle velocities | Analyze the conditions required for a particle to pass undeflected through crossed fields | Explore the relationship between charge, velocity, and field strength in particle selection
