About this Simulation

This simulation models how light rays interact with objects to create shadows. Students can dynamically adjust the light source position, control the viewing angle, and observe real-time changes in shadow formation. The interactive tool makes abstract concepts of light propagation and geometry tangible and explorable.

Learning objectives: Understand how light source position affects shadow size and shape | Explore the relationship between angle of incidence and shadow geometry | Visualise ray propagation and predict shadow patterns from various light configurations
